about

I wrote this song at 18 when I took my first trip outside of Canada to spend 6 months in Spain and a month in India. I was staying mostly in Madrid so I started seriously missing the ocean I had grown up beside. Growing up on the North Shore of Nova Scotia I had spent a lot of time in the ocean and it was that case of not knowing what you got till it’s gone. The ocean also represents for me a place of healing and self-exploration.

lyrics

I long to swim in the deep blue again
With no clothes to hold me back
Let my body go with the eb and flow
Salt water washing over my back

Deep blue I’ll come back to you
Deep blue your waves they call me to
Dive in deep and plant my roots on the oceans floor
I’ll keep scouring the sea until I find the door
Push back those stones of hurt and of pain
And I’ll wait for the hour deep blue when we’ll be one again
Oh I’ll wait for the hour deep blue when we’ll be one again

Floating on the ocean life is easy and fine
Here on the surface where the water is warm
But I’ll swim down where the sun don’t shine
And I’ll use this strength to find who I am

Deep blue I’ll come back to you
Deep blue your waves they call me to
Dive in deep and plant my roots on the oceans floor
I’ll keep scouring the sea until I find the door
Push back those stones of hurt and of pain
And I’ll wait for the hour deep blue when we’ll be one again
Oh I’ll wait for the hour deep blue when we’ll be one again
